“Recent Developments”
by
Brian Parkin
The town of Moab and its environs is
presently in the midst of a boom in construction of housing and
business premises for the use of full-time and part-time
residents. As a photographer I am interested in the dynamic
interaction of the environment and the people who use it. In my
work I don’t edit out the presence of humanity with the aim of
revealing a pristine (but false) image of nature. Rather I wish
to present to you the viewer the juxtaposition of local landscape and
the changes that people make to it. Some of the changes are
permanent but many of the intermediate stages are ephemeral, here for a
short time before being incorporated or transformed.
Recent Developments is on display in Moab's City Hall at 217 East Center, Moab, UT. The pictures may be viewed outside the Council Chambers from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday.
